Question Time

I am curious to know what are your must have prop items?

So far the must have items would include:

Different kinds of flashlights and toy strobe lights. I use them for light painting mainly, and sometimes when I need to see in the dark.

Foam poster board in multiple colors like black and white. I have some cut to make a base and back. I use some to block light.

Those are my main items.

So what are your must have items?

Pinterest

Pinterest is an amazing site to get some information and inspiration from. It is a great think board as long as one keeps everything super organized. When I started out on Pinterest, I just threw things here and there and everywhere. It was super chaotic, I could not find anything. It took me literally a week to get everything set up and organized. I cannot believe that it took that long. With Pinterest I have found many info graphics that have become great glance over cheat sheets. I have found on Pinterest many and great ideas on diy props, backdrops, and creative photo shoot ideas. I would recommend this platform for any new and professional photographer. If you do not have a pinterest account I suggest making one. You will not regret it at all……. Unless you get sucked into its awesomeness and spend insane amounts of time on it, like I do.

DIY Tutu in ACTION!!!!

I finally put the tutu that I made into action today.  Along with my amazing savage seamless background and the DIY  floor that I made. I have to sachet I am really loving this making my own props thing. It’s really amazing and makes the soul feel good.  After doing the shoot I had an idea of how I wanted my images to look.  After a while finally I achieved the look I was going for.  So drumroll……..

Studio work in progress

I have been doing some much needed work in my studio lately.  Well….  Honestly I have been trashing it! I have been doing some major moving and rearranging and making backdrops.

Love that chaotic mess? I know that I do. It was so much fun.  I even made tulle balls!

However my child stole them from me to make trees for his Dino Island. So I need to make more for myself.

My tulle overlay backdrop.

Here is my new backdrop storage system, as well one backdrop that I am working on.

Then today my baby came in.  The beauty that I have been waiting on.  My savage seamless thunder gray backdrop.

It photographs so beautifully.

Happy Valentine’s Day & Finished Images

As all have seen I got creative last night with items on hand and made props for Valentine’s Day. My finished product is amazing in my eyes.  However I may be biased due to it is my son.  He was so ready to come this morning up bright and early!!! I however just wanted to sleep.

The image is edited with a preset cslled velvet butter, it is for Lightroom from The Coffeeshop Blog . I did some tweaking to it as well.

Creativity at its finest!!!…. Pre-Shoot

Okay ladies and gentlemen here is one for you.  Mr. M (my son) has a Valentine’s party tomorrow. I am so excited, I picked out his clothes and everything. Granted even though he is 4 and hates my camera I asked if I can take pictures of him tomorrow.  I am so shocked at the amazing “YES” that came out of his mouth.

With me being thrilled about Mr. M saying yes I remembered all of this stuff I have had for a couple of years.  I waited and waited for him to go to sleep so I could hope into my “studio” and see what I could do. I thought about what I had did for Christmas and did the same thing, simplicity is best.  I had the Styrofoam hearts on sticks I took them off and poked holes through them, then strung fishing line through them with some hot glue.

image

These are possible and fun props.  The one on the far left was from a garland. I sat while watching Elementary picking all the hearts off. My hopes are having him thow and or blow it.  I did a pre test, it’s super easy to pick up. The middle, not sure my plans with those, the are extra Styrofoam hearts. Last but not least is a heart box.

And…..  A selfie of me after all said and done with this.  Not realizing how late it was when I finished working.
